For the past 15 Years, I have traveled through the New York City's strongest and respectable handball/racquetball/paddleball courts for competition. In one of my quotes, the best way to maintain your strong game is to go to other parts of the outside area where you are unknown at. You'll never know what rewards will bring in to your 'résumés'
From the Boogie-Down Bronx's Van Cortlandt Park, to the Beach 17th Park in Far Rockaway; from O'Connor Park in West Orange to Burns Park in Massapequa Park; and from Memorial Stadium in Mount Vernon (Westchester County) to Markham Park in Port Richmond. My initial purpose is to stay in shape in whatever sport that comes to me at my view. To be able to switch sports within the same day/night with consistency is rare, but if you're able to do it for over a decade, that's what you called a consistent all-around 1-wall player. To winning tournaments while being able to accomplish it, is being recognized as one of the greatest. You can forget about me in that catergory. lol
I've started the years in Brooklyn @ Jackie Robinson Park back playing handball back in 1993. A couple of years later, I started playing racquetball in the Marcy Projects (Myrtle/Nostrand Avenues), and in the Northern Bronx in 1998, I started playing paddleball. Mixing the sports weren't easy unless your accostomed to it.
Respect is hard to give by in the 1-wall community. You just have to find a way to get it, even that means to gamble for it. Notfing in life is free, and that includes the ability to earn your skiils on the court.
My Favorite Parks are Jackie Robinson (Bed-Stuy) and St John's (Crown Heights) Paerdegat Park (East Flatbush), and the Coney Island Courts in Brooklyn; Cambria Park, Beach 17th Street (Far Rockaway) Hoyt/31st Street Park (Astoria) and Liberty Parks in Queens; Ryer, Orchard Beach and Van Cortlandt Parks in the Bronx; and North Woodmere County (Woodmere, NY), Burns (Massapequa Park), Shell Creek (Island Park) and Averil Parks (Franklin Square) in Long Island.
Who would've thought that a basketball player, taught me the skills to play, despite he's not a handball player himself? Anything can happen in this small world, a few pointers is all you need. :-)
hey shadow i graduated from boys and girls and girls h.s 1990 and my daughter graduated 2006 good to know somebody out there from the high
Hey Veronica, you can call me Jason. I've known you for a very long time since you, Bernice and company came to Van Cortlandt Park back in 2000 (I think). :-)
The High represents to the death, word up. In reality, we know that players that come out of the school bring it all. We aint afraid of nobody, no matter what sport we play. Congratulations on the new addition to your family, from one Boys and Girls High School alumni to another. Peace from the Priest. :-)
